Battle of the High School Reunions

It was something that just happened. First, Donelson High School Class of 1961 booked their 50th reunion in the Glassroom on Saturday, June 25th. Then, Isaac Litton High School Class of 1961 booked their 50th reunion in the Ballroom, also on June 25th. I thought, "Oh, isn't that cute?" But when I heard that they were rival High Schools, I thought we might have a rumble in the parking lot! Obviously, this sparked a friendly competition between the two schools. Who could have the best reunion? Of course, I took lots of pictures! You decide!

First up, in the Ballroom, Isaac Litton Class of 1961.

The special guest: the Litton Lion!

Litton school colors are red and blue. The tables alternated napkin colors, and the centerpieces were our own blue vases with a beautiful fresh flower arrangement.

Guests checked in and collected their name tags. This was incredibly important last night because we were all wondering who was with which reunion!

Of course, we all know someone we have lost along the way. Isaac Litton displayed the senior portraits of their classmates that have passed on.

The names of those classmates were displayed so that no one would be forgotten.

Did I mention that neither of these high schools exist anymore? This is a brick from Isaac Litton High School, saved from when it was demolished.

It's amazing the memorabilia  that we see at class reunions. From pom-poms to graduation announcements, to pictures from class reunions past, each class had plenty to display.

Even an old cheerleader uniform was on display.

For the cocktail hour, the Isaac Litton Class made sure no table was left without some sparkle!

Meanwhile, Donelson Class of 1961 was moving and shaking in the Glassroom. The reunion committee made sure everyone had something to remember the event by. These are the mugs that each guest was given, placed at each place setting on the tables.

Each table had a unique centerpiece. This was so cute. Each table had a theme with original memorabilia displayed. What a cute idea!

This table payed tribute to "The King".

Of course we had to show some school spirit!

A table for Miss Tennessee, who visited the school that year.

Newspaper clippings from school triumphs were displayed on this table.

This table showcased some of the great movies from 1961.

Apparently Mr. Ed was a big hit on TV in 1961!

Can't forget all that great music!

This globe hi-lighted the historical events in 1961.

When you think of the 1950's and 60's, you think of drinking a milkshake and listening to the juke box at the neighborhood diner. This table reminded everyone of the great food back then!

This centerpiece showed off the fashion of the day.

Can't forget the basketball team!

Isn't technology great? Two classmates brought TVs to display pictures from past class reunions and old high school pictures!

Litton had their lion, but Elvis was in attendance in the Glassroom for Donelson!

Of course, every class reunion has to have a memorbelia table. Donelson's was jam-packed with stuff! Old jerseys, yearbooks, pictures, scrapbooks, you name it!

We have some decorative columns in the Glassroom. Each column was decorated with quotes and inside jokes that only the Donelson classmates would get!

They found this hilarious, needless to say myself and the rest of the staff didn't get it!

All in all, everyone was friendly. There was no fist fights and no drag races down the lane. After 50 years, both classes were glad to see each other. And maybe even an old flame from the forbidden rival school...

So, in the Battle of the Class Reunions, who do you think won? Leave a comment and let me know!

Conley/Swift Wedding

I had so much fun helping Ryan and Amanda plan their wedding! We don't do a ton of ceremonies and receptions (however, next year we are going to be doing a whole bunch more!), but this past weekend we were privileged to have both wonderful events at the club!

Okay, this is just too cool. The Bride had this hanger specially made. How awesome is that?! On wedding days, our small meeting room, the Heritage Room, becomes our bridal suite. This room is great because it gives the Bride and her Bridal Party their own space with plenty of outlets and mirrors for everything they need to be ready to walk down the aisle!

We were excited to host both the ceremony and the reception. This is the Glassroom set up for the ceremony. The Glassroom boasts a great view of the golf course but the comfort of an indoor room. It's the best of both worlds!

You don't need a lot of decorations with a view like that!

Instead of a guest book, guests were invited to leave the couple well wishes on a frame they can use in their home.

I love this picture they had for their gift table.

The brides and bridesmaids displayed their bouquets on the gift table after the ceremony.

Speaking of bouquets, how cool are these?! The bride and bridesmaids were very crafty and made their bouquets out of fabric and buttons. They were so cute but also became a great keepsake for the bridesmaids.

This was the Bride's bouquet. Just so beautiful and fun. She'll have this bouquet forever.

The tables were just as fun, like this couple. The centerpieces were pictures of the Bride and Groom through the years. Each guest received a cookie, too!

The cake was just beautiful, and these little hearts are actually little mint candies, made by the Bride's Aunt.

I love unconventional groom's cakes! This groom had a cheesecake bar! Yes, those little things are actually little individual cheesecakes!

The guests were invited the dip their cheesecake in sauces of chocolate, cherry, and raspberry. Yum!

It was lovely ceremony and reception here at Bluegrass. If you are interested in a venue for your wedding, call me at 615-824-6528 Ext. 111!

Only one more week left on this June special! If the event is booked by June 30th, there is complimentary room rent!*

*Excludes Saturdays in April, May, June, and December. Event must occur within 12 months of the booking date. Subject to availability.

Odell-Bade Wedding

Last night we hosted the very beautiful Odell-Bade Wedding Reception. Everything was classy and elegant and a lot of fun. (In fact, there was a record turn-out on the dance floor!) It was a beautiful event and I managed to snap some pictures while I was at it!

The colors were white, silver, and purple. Very elegant. The tables were set with our linen and the chairs were covered and tied with silver sashes. The napkins were a similar shade of gray and folded over the table. Very modern.

This reception started at 5:00, so I couldn't get any night shots in, but the Ballroom looked more beautiful as the night went on.

For centerpieces, several different arrangements were used to give every table a little something special. This table included floating candles.

The colors of these flowers were just beautiful.

These arrangements added some beautiful color to the room.

Those are actually crystals that were used to weigh down the flowers in the vase.

The head table was set for twelve, making it the focal point for the whole room. The bridesmaids later placed their bouquets in the vases on the table.

We love candy bars! The purple and silver were used to make the candy bar unique. We actually had a few sashes that were not used, so we used them as runners for a few of the tables.

Each placesetting had a little bag to be filled with candy. The bride actually assembled and wrote the messages herself! The turned out great!

This one turned out a little blurry... On the other side of the cards, the bride and groom encouraged everyone to "enjoy the candy bar!"

The cake was also very elegant, and we also used an extra sash to add to the presentation. The bride and groom displayed pictures of their parents on their wedding days on the cake table. Finally, the cake table was the perfect spot to display the bride's toss bouquet.

During the cocktail reception, guests were treated to a fruit, vegetable, and cheese display in the center of the dance floor. The chefs did a great job making it look beautiful.

Here's a close-up.

In case you were wondering where the veggies were, they were on the other side!

We used serpentine tables again this weekend to give the buffet a curve. Carved beef tenderloin was available on the end.

By the time I finished taking pictures, it was time for the party to start! The new couple had a great time and everyone commented on how beautiful it all was.
